RHEUBARBARUM

RHEUBARBARUM
RHEUBARBARUM
sinis Taihoang, in Xensia provinc. copiose provenit, diligenti culturae arte. Radix est sat solida, tuberibus hinc inde prominentibus, foliorum formâ haud ita procul a caulibus nostratibus, quos tamen magnitudine superant. Has radices pertusas incolae in umbra suipendunt ac siccant: nam in Sole suspensae vim amittunt. Inde postmodum, uti et ex provinc. eiusdem Imperii Suchvena, magna ex parte est Rheubarbarum omne, quod ad nos in Europam defertur, nimirum per mare Indicum; vel Casan, Astracaniam et Russiam; vel per Tibethum, Mugor et Persidem etc. Auctor Anonymus Sinae et Europ. c. 31. Vide quoque supra in voce Rha. Io. vero Bapt. Tavernier omne Rheubarbarum, ex magna Tartaria ad nos deferri, optimum autem in Regno Boutam, ultra Gangem, Septentrionem versus, provenire, sed ob itineris diuturnitatem et pluviarum madorem, radici inimicum, inde in Europam non advehi, docet in libro, cui titulum fecit Observations sur le Commerce des Indes Orientales.
